This party marked Celebration Donation's first "soft" launch party in Erie, PA! Julie Rahner Hersch, Founder and Director of Marketing, invited over 100 guests to interact with the electronic invite and give feedback.
The kids arrived in various costumes, eager to participate in the fun party activities: creating glitter pumpkins, decorating cutout cookies, and learning the Thriller dance! Both kids and adults enjoyed the festive occasion and were happy to take part in the first Celebration Donation group-giving effort. All proceeds went to the charity, Help For Orphans. Celebration Donation's goal is to raise $6,000 to build a library for the school that houses and teaches orphans in a town outside Kenya, Africa.
Hersch plans to send a "phantom" invite to friends and family across the USA to raise the additional funds to reach the $6,000 mark. Plus, if Celebration Donation raises at least $5,000 for Help for Orphans, Jill Zarin, a philanthropist and Bravo sweetheart from "Housewives of NYC" offered to match and donate $5,000! Sarah Hemendinger, Founder and Director of Research, threw a Halloween-themed Celebration Donation party, inviting friends to help launch Celebration Donation and to learn more about the chosen charity, Baal Dan. The founder of Baal Dan, Tanya Pinto, was present at the party and thrilled with the group-giving efforts. The amount raised will send 3 street children to a private elementary school for a full year, and supply them with all necessary books, uniforms and meals.
Friends were amazed at the group-giving impact on a charity. The party was a fun time for all, and everyone's "spirits" were certainly lifted when they heard the donation tally during the evening. Everyone found out just how easy and inspiring it is to Watch Giving Grow. |
1201 Kitchen Launch Party -"One Kitchen Helping Another Kitchen" Date: November 10, 2009 Location: Erie, PA Guests Invited: 600 Charity: Emmaus Soup Kitchen Amount Raised: $2,850 |
Celebration Donation hosted a kick-off launch party at 1201 Kitchen, a wonderful restaurant in Erie, PA. Over 100 friend and family joined Julie Rahner Hersch to toast the start of the new online nonprofit.
Hersch wanted her guests to experience first hand the fundraising capabilities of Celebration Donation. Hersch invited over 600 people to the event - which created a group-giving effort equaling $2,850 for the chosen charity, Emmaus Soup Kitchen. Emmaus Soup Kitchen is the busiest soup kitchen in PA and serves over 50,000 free meals a year, giving individual love and attention to Erie's hungry.
Celebration Donation sole purpose is to help other nonprofits raise money to support their causes. This party highlighted how nonprofits can benefit from using Celebration Donation for their next fundraising event. It was easy to invite over 600 people. Once the names and email addresses were added to the Address Book and the invite created/sent, the Party Planner could focus on the actual event. No costly mailings, all party and RSVP information located online at Celebration Donation, and a running donation total available - allowing the Party Planner and the guests to "Watch Giving Grow".
Make giving contagious by sharing the Celebration Donation party idea with your board members, your donors, and your volunteers. Whether they are celebrating a birthday, anniversary, graduation or retirement, they can commemorate the significant occasion with a group donation to their favorite charity through Celebration Donation. |
